Hello :D

I've just added some of the custom POIs from this site to my TomTom/iPaq. They show up in the list, so okay so far.

When people advise you to set the POIs as Warn When Near to save on jerky map performance, am I right in thinking that you need to disable all POIs in the Enable/Disable POI section first? Also, I presume you have to have Show POI enabled in the other option on the first screen. Is that correct?

Thanks very much

Mike

The Enable/Disable on Page 1 of Preferences and the Options/POI in Browse Map serve the same functions.

Even though they are not Enabled, you can still Navigate to any of them. Note that this will have the effect of Enabling them, until you use Disable. ;)

If you use Warn When Near there is no good reason for Enabling.

If you need to be aware, but not warned, in the Navigation Map then you need to use Enabled. As you also will in Browse Map.

2 or 3 POIs Enabled shouldn't pose a major problem with Screen Redraws, but if it does, you'll know what to do.Smile

AIUI in Warn When Near, the Device looks for the POIs that are in close proximity to your current location.

With Enabling it is looking at the whole POI and, in simplistic terms, creating a another Map which it overlays onto the Navigation Map. If you like it's handling multiple Maps, with the obvious overhead.

Hello Richard :D. Thanks for the detailed reply. I'll just be using Warn When Near then!
