|
|
I'm surprised there isn't already a Boots the Chemist POI, as I'm sure loads of people would find this handy when they're on the road and get a headache or whatever! I've already tried e-mailing Boots asking for a list of addresses for their stores so I could derive the POIs, but they declined to give me it
Does anyone have such a POI set, or can direct me to a list of addresses? |

Looks like it may need compiling from scratch - a pity Boots themselves are not more helpful.
I have submitted Newbury, Hungerford ones in West Berkshire now.

did they actively refuse to give you it or just not respond to you?
if they didn't respond then it may be worth tryng to get a phone number to actually speak to someone. tell them the pro's of having their stores listed on every single satnav in britain - tell them that if they don't do it then moss chemists will and people will find them much easier...

What they said was they couldn't provide that information but that I was "free" to use their online store locator. To be honest, I think the person who answered the query either couldn't be bothered finding out, didn't know what I was talking about, or thought I was going to start a mailbomb campaign against them. I did point out how useful/profitable it would be to have all the POIs handy for their store, but I guess they weren't convinced. |

I noticed the new list of Boots with about 4 locations so added a few that I know off around Leeds (not all) and Stratford Upon Avon. Looks like a few have as it's reached 28 in just a couple of days. Hopefully more will be added and as with all the POI's it'll grow to be a good reliable source.
I've sort of got the POI's bug!! I've tried to add POI's that I know of. I've also noticed a few new POI's with only a few locations. Looks like a few have got a new Sat Nav for Christmas and are trying to find new POI's to add. Can only be a good thing!
Got to say it's easier when you have a decent satellite image to help you and not just the map. |

I'm confused...
The PGPSW POI list already has:
Boots Dispensing (2007-01-26 : 1248)
Boots Non-dispensing (2007-01-23 : 122)
as well as an extra:
Boots (2007-01-26 : 6) which could do with being merged in with the others.
They are all under "Pharmacies" |

The Boots postcode list is new to the website, previously it didn't allow you to do a general search - it would appear some industrious geocoder has created a POI list from this info, as the Boots POIs were previously not on this site, great work!
The tomtomfree POI list only contains a handful of Boots stores, it is not anywhere near a complete list. |

Boots provided the data for their Dispensing and Non-dispensing outlets and I have retained them as separate POI as it is a useful distinction. I hope that users will send in reports so that those entries that are in the Boots general subcategory can be moved to one of the others. As it is so easy for you to merge subcategories when downloading I do not intend to delete the third subcategory.
The data for the Alliance subcategory also came from Boots

How did you get them to send you the POIs? I e-mailed the address on the website and they politely dinghied me! Perhaps PocketGPS has some more sway! |

The request came from Boots to Pocket GPS World via the POI submissions email address asking "Please can you add these lists of Boots the Chemist stores to your POI files". So perhaps your request did trigger off a reaction unknown to you

Richard, You might need a third Boots "The Doctors" section if they expand the idea, Poole Dorset Mike |
