Activating speed camera alerts on Navigator ND

I've just bought a Packard Bell Destinator ND and have downloaded the speed camera database which is now in "favourites". As a complete moron when it comes to these things, how do I get the thing to actually issue alerts as I went on a long journey yesterday, past long standing speed cameras, and no alerts sounded, and nor did any visual alert appear on the map. I basically need someone to tell me, step by step, what to do as the help section doesn't tell me. All advice gratefully received. Thanks. Will P.
