|
|
Hello, new GPS user here.
I have TomTom6 on my Palm Treo 650 and a BT GPS receiver. My problem is that TomTom keeps loosing the bluetooth connection to the GPS. And once it finds it again, it dispays a screen asking me to select my gps unit from the available BT devices nearby.
Is there some way to get TomTom to remember which is my PGS and just automatically connect to it when it drops the BT connection?
Thanks! |

Just to make sure you have done things correctly....
Make sure you have paired your GPS device correctly.
The create an incoming GPS COM port on your PDA
Configure TomTom to use this serial port (Select Other BT device in config - NOT TomTom BT GPS - unless it is of course!)
Should then work. And TomTom should remember the configuration.
Always use the menu EXIT function to exit TomTom otherwise you end up having to do soft resets to get it working again. |

The device is paired ok.
Can you create an incoming com port on a Palm Treo?
If so please explain as I can't seem to find anything.
I have selected "Other BT Device" but I don't get any option to use a particular serial port... is this available on a Treo?
Thanks for replying |

I don't have a Palm, but TTN expects the BT device to have the term "GPS" in the name. So if you have a BT manager, look in that to see if the pod's name is something like 737_GPS. Then it shouldn't ask anymore. |

my gps receiver is called iBT-GPS ....
but still TTN keeps asking me which is the GPS device.
I have another (free) gps program which reconnects automatically without asking me anything... |

OK, try deleting the BT pairing, soft-reset, then search and connect again with the BT manager using a secure encrypted connection and passkey 0000.
If that doesn't work, I'm dry. Ask TT. |
