|
|
I am having a problem with the ‘My One’ part of TomTom Home. When you click the picture of the One to switch it comes up with the TomTom splash screen for about 10 seconds. I get a windows message saying that Home has encountered a problem and has to close. I am using the latest version of Home. I have tried it numerous times with the same result.
I have tried the following.
1) Rebooted my PC
2) Re-downloaded the latest version, uninstalled Home & re-installed it.
4) Reset my TomTom One
3) I was going to restore the backup I made before I installed the latest version on Saturday but I got the message ‘You are about to restore a backup to a TomTom device, however, the backup you want to restore seems to be a backup of another TomTom device. Etc’ so I did not carry on with the restore.
I have also had the following problem with Home since I started using it.
After connecting my One V2 to the USB cable, Home starts automatically. It then checks for updates. Once it has done this the program locks up & I have to use Task Manager to end it. I then start it up again manually and it works ok, or it did until yesterday when I started getting the problem with ‘My One’
I have reported it to TomTom support but the auto-reply I got said not to expect a response for at least a week due to increased activity after Xmas.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks

As to the Updates - if you Select File | Preferences untick the Option for Check for updates, etc.
For the locking up, I don't know if this will work but it's worth a try. Select |Device | Change Device, and select it. You will need to have the ONE connected for this. Start HOME in Explore.
This will force HOME to re-read the Device.
Are you using the original SD Card?
HOME says that the Backup is for another Device. Have you changed anything? _________________ Richard

I installed the updates for One & home, I think that was Saturday. Cant remember if I used 'my one' successfully since then. The only other thing I did was to remove some voices, using Home, just before I got the problem.

Question |
I have tried that, the main problem is still there but it has stopped HOME locking up
Just to confirm TomTom Home will communicate with my TomTom One V2 it is only when I try to use the My ONE option in TomTom HOME that I get a problem. I only started getting the problem after applying the updates that arrived Saturday. I am using version 1.3 of TomTom HOME
Thanks

after searching -- I have found this -- Thanks
My tom-tom home is behaving exactly (similarly) the same way
This is what I do...
1 Connect power to tom-tom classic.
2 Connect USB to tom
splash-screen comes up on tom - "do you wish co connect to computer"
3 Press yes.
4 Tom-tom Home loads -checks for updates - and "locks"
5. Can only close by using Task Manager.
6 Click on Icon for ttHome and Home starts and runs "normally" -- but will not close !
7. Use task manager again for closing.
8 Cut and paste anything I need to (Speed cams etc) by using Windows explorer.
9. Use "safely remove hardware" and disconnect Tom from computer...
Tom now seems to want to have a "think" and takes at least half a min to come back alive.. but then works normally..
Is TTHome worth bothering with -- or shall I unload it?? (don't want to..)
How do I stop it "locking up" the computer
Version from help...

I appear to have solved the problem with Home crashing when I try to use 'My One'. I have removed POI Capture and the problem has gone away.
