Buying GPS advice please ...

Hi folks

I am about take the plunge & buy my first GPS device.

I want one that has some mapping capability but is also tough enough so I can take it out whilst mountain biking. I would also like to occasionally use it in the car in case I get lost.

Anyway, I had narrowed it down to the Etrex Legend with the Metroguide Europe CDROM. However, reading some of the reviews, the Garmin Map76 seem to be better at picking up signals but is a little bigger.

If anyone has any experience of using any of these units then I would be really grateful.
