Excuse if this is dumb question - am a noobie at all this.
I have sucessfully loaded the DB files into my Garmin Nuvi 660; however, from the alerts I am getting on the unit it seems that they are not direction or road specific - i.e. they are just generally proximity based and I picking up alerts for nearby cameras, not actually for the road I am on. Is this the case (a weakness of the Nuvi)?
(and may be the clue on the unit is that they come under "Proximinity Alerts" - doooh?)
The enteries in the files are:
-0.39579 51.5215 GATSO:10@50
Which seems to confirm this, as this to me looks like only long+lat+description.
Anyone help with if I am right or not? _________________ ---------

Most units are proximity based becasue that's how Points of Interest work.If you where looking for a petrol station or Asda you'd want to find one even if it were off your route. Speed Cameras are POIs too and so work in the same way.
My i3 however seems to have an "Warn On Route" function too. I can think of two cameras which if i approach in Map Mode i get alerted to even if they are off route. However if i am in Navigation Mode then i don't get alerted. Maybe yours will do the same.

Having tested this on multiple locations, with the Nuvi 660, where the camera is only on one side of the road, or more annoyingly, on a nearby road, I can confirm that sadly the Nuvi don't have this feature -
If you are routing, or just driving with the map up, it alerts you to any of the downloaded cmaera points; hence, giving, especially in london, quite a few false alerts.
Not sure about the Garmin-Cyclops DB, that Garmin offer will now test it as well.
Thanks for the reply. _________________ ---------
