Couple of things to remember when asking questions re: setup
the following is useful for others to to assist you
SatNav type - make, model, etc.. (i.e. Go710 )
Database Version downloaded - ov2, HOME, csv, etc..
I guess you have tried TomTom FAQ's
Database Install Help Here
A quick run thru is
Download the database
UNZIP the file(s) to the correct directory as follows
OV2 - your map folder on SD card
Home - the Downloads folder in your TT HOME installation on your PC.
Start Home, you should see the file(s) listed in the centre pane.
Click checkbox next to Pocketgps..... then use big green INSTALL button ( at top, right of centre ) to install the database onto your SD card. Pocketgps....should no be visible in the right pane now

A Search should get you the details you need. _________________ Jock

Tom Tom's cameras are no longer POIs.
If you have a GO, you go into the Tom Tom PLUS services menu, then Safety camera warnings, then Enable warnings.
What speed did you use for the demo? Needs to be 100%.
It's a shame you didn't ask for help with the cameras from this site. I'm stupid and I managed it dead easy - can almost do it blindfolded now. You can't do diddly squat with the TT ones compared with the ones from here.
After you've tried the TT cameras for a while, come back here and everybody will help you get going with "our" decent ones. _________________ Dennis

First, before bothering with "our" cameras, do another download of them - they will almost certainly have been updated since you got them (they are updated very regularly - probably another difference between these and Tom Tom's). Your £19 gets you a whole year's membership and you can then download the cameras as often as you wish.
In PLUS services, DON'T bother with wireless setup yet. Just click "Safety camera warnings" (on mine, it's an icon on the first screen of "services"), then "Show safety cameras". (just pass on by if it tries to insist on the wireless connection - it'll grumble, but won't actually send you a bolt of lightning!). The TT camera updates are supposedly announced to you personally by e-mail and are NOT downloaded via TT PLUS on your TT, but from your PC internet connection.
Wireless setup will subsequently be required if you want to use any other TT PLUS services to be provided direct to your TT, live, on the road, without using a PC. They work through a bluetooth phone connection and the setup is quite easy and painless (or it was for me). But if I may be so bold, I'd advise you to hold back from PLUS services and read in here as much as you can. That way, you'll read all about what can go wrong as well as how to make it go right. For example, I have decided not to use the TT Traffic service, simply because of what I've read here. _________________ Dennis

Try plotting a short route and use a low speed. _________________ Jock

BGF is right. Like I said before, demo speed has to be 100%. I gave it a quick try myself last night and my warning sounds came up OK. Of course, my demo is with pgpsw cameras, NOT Tom Tom ones and I have a feeling you may still be using theirs, not "ours", in which case I don't know if the TT ones give sounds in demo mode. _________________ Dennis

Under V6.xxx I can run a Demo at 400% and still get directions and warnings! _________________ Richard

Thanks for that Richard, you are of course, quite right, I've just proved it to myself.
Son of Magicman I begin to think you've got something wrong about your machine. It has always worked for me with pgpsw cameras. It took me a long time to prove it works with TT cameras because I've actually deleted the UK Tom Tom cameras off my machine and had to try and find somewhere in Europe where they have them. Eventually succeeded in both seeing and hearing a TT camera, but after a lot of difficulty - I seemed to lose the cameras every time I dumped my route (which was often because I had to run route demo in hope rather than certainty of coming to a camera and even at 400% it was taking too long to get near any!). The TT sound is only a double beep, just in case you haven't heard it, or perhaps you didn't notice it as a warning sound (is the volume control set nice and loud?). You don't get the choice of bells and hooters.
You STILL haven't actually said which cameras are not giving sound warnings, but I still suspect you're only on the Tom Tom ones. If that is the case, the only suggestion I can offer (and please bear in mind I'm no expert, obviously, just thought I could give you the simple answer) is for you to ask Tom Tom. The website contact method is not very encouraging, so I'd suggest you join the New Year queues at 0845 161 0009.
Or you could try again to use the PGPSW ones. Far less hassle, honestly - read the instructions and come back if it beats you. _________________ Dennis
