|
|
Hi 8O
I am thinking of getting either a TTG 510 or 710. £50 difference between the two the only other difference seems to be the maps.
Can someone explain what that difference is exactly please?!!
The Tomtom website says that the 710 has the whole of western europe and the 510 has the same but it seems segmented???????
Any help gratefully appreciated :D |

Hi Blinkey
i think the 510 only has main roads of western europe and the 710 has the full map.
i just bought the 910 on christmas eve. dixons price £399 but on line price £349 so that saved me £50. sods law on boxing day its now £319
shop around and you should find some good deals on the 510 o 710. |

Ok, thanks for that but does the 510 have full detailed maps of the UK? |

Yes.
Also see Comparison chart
and Features 710 and 510
Funny, just done exactly the same links in another post, but for the 710 and One Regional, |

Thanks for the links, I assume when it says "maps for you region" it means the UK?
I used to have the original, classic TTG and had full detailed maps of uk only. |

"Maps & Coverage" is the tab next to the "Features"
It states 99% coverage for mainland and Northern Ireland.
The ONE Regional and the new UK downloadable map also have good coverage of Eire. |

Now that's just excellent! So would I be able to navigate from my place in the UK to my Dads in Spain and check out POIs on the way, eg fuel stops, restaurants etc?
Many thanks :D |

On a 710 or ONE Europe version, yes - door to door.
On a 510, no - you only get the major roads in Europe.
You'll have to ask someone with more experience than me, how good the restaurant and fuel POIs are though... |

I've just come across a deal on a 510 where you get free European maps on a DVD, is this easy to do? |

Are they the FULL door-to-door Europe maps?
That's the question you should ask.
I remember my Go300 came with Europe maps on a disc.
Major Routes only........so check it carefully.
If the map is on a DVD, installing them is no harder than installing any standard PC software. Click a few buttons, wait a while, done......
You will probably need a bigger SD card, tho'
If it is a good deal, all bona, p'raps post details so others might benefit too! |

Thanks for the info Gambler :D But it's an insurance job and a company called 'Ival' is sending me a new one, so get what I get!!
Where would be the best place to go to get the 710 maps, i.e. full European.
Many thanks. |

Didn't realise they'd made it to other retailers yet. That's why I said "so far" |
