OK...so my wife (God Bless HER!) bought me a GPS for my car this Christmas. I drive alot for work and call on 8-15 customers at nearly as many unique locations per day. Getting from A to B to C etc can be tricky sometimes.
She wasn't sure which GPS to buy. She figured if this one isn't right, I'd return it and get one that was. There is my problem and the cause for my current headache.
I've read forums and reviews for the past four hours and I am no closer to a solution than when I started.
I am hoping that the more experienced users who read the forums can guide me...HELP!
My needs:
Import a database of about 250 customers.
Allow me to plan out trips with multiple stops (ie 8-15 customers per day).
All the rest is window dressing in my book, so long as the unit works as advertised (ie provdes alternate routes, shortest distance, fastest trip etc.)
Any ideas?! |

One that doesn't do the two things I posted about...
Although it is a nice first GPS navigation unit, it is better suited for moms about town or family trips than business use. (Garvin StreetPilot c330)
I need something that can do the two things I posted about earlier. |

As far as I am aware only CoPilot, i-Go and Mapopolis do on-device route optimisation. You will have to test some of your contacts on these because the way you write the contact's address has a huge influence on the success rate at finding that address on the map. (The map lives in a parallel universe to what we call reality) _________________ Lutz

Actually optimisation is not what I am looking for...I want to set up multiple stops along the way in the order I specify and be able to manipulate that on the fly as I go...say a contact is not able to make it to the office in the morning, but I have time and want to add him to the end of the day. |

In that case, anything that can handle an Itinerary will fit the bill.
I only know the TT Itinerary. You can set up to 47 locations, know as Waypoints and a Destination.
You can easily move any location down the List, and delete those already visited, and it will re-calculate it again.
One thing to watch for is that each location must be on a road that the Device can Navigate down.
If you don't pass with several yards of it, you will get instructions to 'make a U-turn'.;) The wrong side of a Dual Carriageway is a miss, but you can Mark it as 'Visited' and you'll be taken to the next point. _________________ Richard
