Garmin C510 Speed Camera warning

Hi i have just had a Garmin C510 bought for christmas and i find that the speed camera warning is very close to the camera before i get the warning.

Is there anyway to ge a warning a bit sooner also how do i make my own speed camera warning poi.

Also what is the Proximity alarm settink it can be off on on but it does not eem to make any differancd.

And if its not to much to ask is there a way of planning a route then view a demo run of the route and my friend has a tom tom one and i like the idea of a quick toure of the route before i set off.
