|
|
I received by 910 from PC World on Thursday and have started to put it through it's paces.
My biggest concern was the windscreen mount. However I must have the revised version because I have found it to be fine so far.
However, I was surpised to find that general performance is much poorer than TT5 on my old iPaq 1940.
eg.
Address Searching:
On the ipaq the town names appear almost immediately as you key in the letters but the 910 takes 3 or 4 seconds to catch-up with what you type.
Route Calculation
Lands End (City Centre) to John O Groats (City Centre) takes 24 seconds on the ipaq and 34 seconds on the 910
Guidance Map scrolling
On the iPaq scrolling is quite smooth at approximately 15 fps. Wheras the 910 is very jerky at approx. 4-5 fps
Position on-screen
There appears to be a 2 second lag between the displayed position and my actual position. The iPaq appeared to have almost no lag at all.
Is this normal for the 910 or could I have a faulty unit. I would welcome other peoples experience with it.
Thanks. |

Don't forget, the 910 has a much larger map to handle, and a somewhat bigger screen to draw onto. So a speed degradation is not nice, but within the expected limits. _________________ Lutz

Boy, that's a real pain. It means that when travelling from one end of the country to the other it'll take 10 secs longer if you're using a TT910. |

I also thought that the 910 seemed slower than the GO Classic :D
My 910 does take that extra 2 seconds to bring the roads up after typing :D
Ive also tried the tom tom1 and that is slower than the classic 8O
Still works fine fast enough though, the reception for GPS is more improved than the classic
