HP rz1710 / Via Michelin & Kirrio Cradle (PLEASE HELP!)

Can anyone enlighten me as to how I can get my rz1710 to talk to the Kirrio cradle? the blue light comes on at the bottom of the cradle, but I keep getting the message could not open GPS port.

I've tried this at COM Port 1 & Baud Rate 4800 also Com Port 7 & Baud Rate 115200, from previous advice. I've reinstalled the software, but I'm at the stage that I'm hitting a brick wall & have run out of ideas.

Strange thing is, the GPS will work on an after market cradle & reciever, but that involves wires all across the dashboard etc. The Kirrio Cradle is a neat unit, but "mighty" can't half cause some grief when things don't go to plan.
