|
|
Last night I purchased the new GB map for Navigator 5 from the TomTom website, but I can't for the life of me get it installed.
I've downloaded and installed TomTom Home, and it recognises my device (Mio A701) and the version of TT on it, but every time I try to download my updates or login I get a message, 'There was a problem contacting TomTom PLUS. Please try again later' which I've been getting this for the last 12 hours. I've found a log file, ServerError.txt, in the TT Home directory and that has multiple 'The request to the server was empty or not allowed, please try again' messages in it. TT Home is running on XP.
I've logged a call with TT support, but I am hoping someone here may know how to resolve it.
Thanks |

I've never seen that message, so this is pure guessing. It's possible that it was logging on as a guest, or not at all.
In HOME if you go to File | Login you should get a Login Screen. Use this to Login at TT.
This won't take you to the PLUS Services. The Map Upgrade is a different part of the Website. You get to the PLUS Services by clicking the TT online Section at the Top Left. _________________ Richard

It turned out to be a problem at the TomTom end. They replied back to say they'd tidied up some files in the account (?) and I could log straight in after. |

This is interesting to hear since this is the same message I have found and I still cannot download the GB+IE v660 maps to the Laptop via Tom Tom Home. I use a classic GO. Could you advise me what Tom Tom did or do you have an incident number I can have to quote them?
Thanks

I may have added to the problem as I reset my account and removed and added the device on their website trying to get it to work, although I did leave it with the right device in the end. If I was you I would just log a support call with them: after the horror stories I'd read about there support I was surprisingly impressed as it was fixed by the next morning. |
