Problems getting map through Tomtom home

I bought the USA and Canada map and am trying to download it via Tomtom home, but it is hopeless!
The filesize is 918Mb, so its pretty big, but its going really slowly and the failing every time at around 93%. Taking about an hour and a half to get to 93% then failing, so it is really frustrating. I can do a file that size via http/nntp in 20 mins or so normally. Why is it so slow and why does it keep failing?
I have wasted about 5 gig of my bandwidth allowance on this already

Logging into the website it says this product can only be downloaded via Tomtom home and they do not provide a link to get the zip or the installer.

I am flying out there on Sat. so getting the map sent on CD is not an option either!

Anyone else had similar problems? Ideas anyone?
