Postcode to lat/long converter

I read in one of the posts that "Richard" had created a postcode to lat/long converter. I presume this is Oldboy one of the moderators. Is that true and is it available? I am struggling with POIs on a Garmin Nuvi and am trying to understand how the unit displays/uses the data from the CSV file. The lat/long is fairly obvious and the next text bloc can presumably include any data you want and will be displayed when the POI is selected from the list (I presume the list also uses the first text string also). If you add text strings after another comma where is that displayed? What is the character limit on the initial string?

Some time ago (years now) I wrote a program called CodeSearch which converted Postcodes to Lat/Lon. My program used files, which at that time were freely available in the Downloads area of this website, to map Postcodes to Lat/Lon. But later on for copyright reasons these files had to be withdrawn. Without the Postcode files my program was useless so that was that.

The Garmin POI Loader help file does not specify any size limits for the Name and Comment fields entered in a CSV file so it is a case of "suck it and see". I am confident that someone will be able to tell us the limits.

The text entered in the Comment field is shown beneath the Proximity Alarm Distance/Speed lines if you look at a particular POI.

to see the text that you entered in the Comment field of a CSV file.
