Can anyone enlighten me on what functionality the Tomtom remote allows?

I've searched various reviews without success, Tomtom's website just says it will "maximise my convenience and comfort". (A comode would do that too!)

My unit is too far away to comfortably reach on my windscreen so being able to operate the traffic functions from a remote would be really handy.

I bought the Go510 to replace a PDA based Tomtom setup purely to get the TMC addon but am currently using the free month trial on Tomtom traffic with disappointing results. Driving back from Birmingham to Manchester it took me off the M6 near Warrington for a scenic tour of Warringtons roundabouts then 20 minutes later I find myself back on the M6 more or less at the point where I came off but this time heading back in the direction of Birmingham!

It has informed me of slow moving traffic when there isn't any and not alerted me of problems on the M42 when I've been stuck in the outside lane with my handbrake on. I'm hoping this is due to the frequency of updates from Tomtom (I've set it to auto-update every 2 minutes by the way) and am hoping the TMC broadcasts may be more up to date. Is thsi likely to be the case?

Ideally I'd like a vent mount for the 510 but haven't been able to find any.

Mick

The remote will allow you to do almost anything you would touch the screen for - certainly for the 910 which I have. I suggest you mess with it in the house in safety until you get the hang of it.
