|
|
An elderly friend of mine, Dennis, has an iCN520 that freezes when attempting to select a destination via the Address or POI option. Selecting via the map or from favourites works fine.
It will display an ASSERT FAILURE: Navigator\Gui\Unstable\apps\destWizard.c Line:2003 TEST:countryResult != NULL
if cancelled/re-attempted.
The About screen shows:
Version: SmartST 2005
Build: 3.80.1027
Built on:2005-06-21 13:41:19 (B)
Unit ID ....
Core: T-core-v1_17_0030 2--5/05/27-15:38:28
I submitted a question to NavMan and (after quite a wait) they did say that I needed to install a new version of SmartST, but not how...
Now, Dennis does not have a PC so has discarded the original CD and the USB cable. Now I have a suitable cable, a capable PC and am computer literate, so he has asked me to help.
Can you advise what the best course of action is please?
Thanks in anticipation,
Steve |

Unfortunately, without the CD and the Navman Desktop application which is on it, I suspect that the answer is 'Not a lot'. It might be worth explaining the situation to Navman, especially as the software is of no use without a device and valid registration code. _________________ Tim |

It maybe the maps and/or the SD has a problem (assuming you are using an SD card). Try to copy all the files from the SD card onto a different one. If you don't have another to try, copy all the files onto your PC, reformat the SD card, and copy them back on.
As far as the CD goes, the value in the CD is the registration keys, not the content or physical media. If you can get hold of someone elses CD's, you can use them (assuming same version etc). The registration keys are stored on the iCN, but can be retrived from Navman's web server by the software.
I do not believe Navman would or should have an issue with you making a copy of someone elses CD's, as long as you have a valid registration key, which you will have. I this case you would be replacing lost media, not stealing copyrighted material, as you do have a right to use it. |
