|

Hi all,
Maybe I have misunderstood this SatNav thing.
As I understood it, if you make a wrong turn or are diverted off the planned route - TomTom will 'instantly' recalculate the route taking your new location into account.
Last night, I had to go through a diversion and all TomTom kept saying was "at the next available opportunity do a U-turn" so that it could get back to the planned route ??
Have I misunderstood something fundamental here ? Or maybe there is something you need to do with TomTom in advance or when about to divert ??
TIA for any help.
Regards,

This is not just happen in Mobile form, it also happens only TT products as they use the same routing engine.
This problem is because TT decides that it is easier for you to go back to the planned route than to re-route/re-plan the route, especially if the journey is a long one.
The quickest way to circumvent this is to just force it to re-plan. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Thanks for that.
How easy is "force it to re-plan" to do whilst driving ??
Also, if you just continue long enough without touching it TT, will it eventually get the message and re-plan automatically ? |

Then follow the directions as it will have re-mapped a new route to your destination.
The only time you might have a serious problem is if you were following an Itinerary. If the next Waypoint was in the area that was being diverted around, it will always try to take you back to that Waypoint. _________________ Richard

Back in the day there used to be a choice of 'strict' or normal route recalculation. Normal route recalculation tries to get you back onto the original route, this saves processing power. Strict used to mean that it recalculated the entire route from your new starting point, but they've removed that now |
