|
|
I have just purchased an official version of Tom Tom 6 with maps of Western Europe. Using TomTom Home I can load the software OK. However when I try to load the GB map, it "unpacks" OK but after about 2% of the install process I get the following message - "There is not enough free space on your TomTom device to install this item"
I have an empty 512Mb SD card so there should be loads of space. I have managed to install the Canary Islands map, which is the smallest mapp on the DVD, with no problems, but no others. I don't really need this map though!!
I understand that the XDAii is not on the TomTom "approved list of hardware", hoever I know it will run, having tried an "unofficial copy".
I decided to do the right thing and get an official version but am now struggling.
I'd be grateful for any advice
Thanks |

Neil, Welcome to the forum, when you open TomTom Home on the left side of the screen you should have "Install to TomTom" On the middle portion of the screen you need to select the check box for the map you want to install, pick a voice (or two) and make sure the Postcode for Great Britain is checked at the bottom of the screen, On the righthand side of the screen at the top make sure you have selected Storage Card - NOT internal Memory.
Have you still got a previous version of TomTom installed on the device? - if so delete it first - Mike |

HI Mike
I removed the old version and definately picked the storage card option - it tells me I have 460.4Md free (after installing) the Canary Islands.

Yes - it unpacks it OK then stops the install after about 2%
I am trying a hard reset of the xda to see if that makes any difference.
Thanks

After much head scratching and trying different things that didn't work and even reading the manual! I found the answer on the TomTom web site. It mentions there that for devices that do not connect through Active Sync to use a card reader. I simply moved the SD card from the XDA to a card reader. TomTom Home saw it immediately and I had no problem loading the map. Put it back in the XDA and it seems to be working OK
Will try it properly tomorrow
