Hi all. I wonder if anyone can help with this problem I have been having with Tomtom support.
Two days ago I purchased a tomtom one v2 from Currys. I am very happy with the unit but my woes started when I tried to activate the free trial to traffic. I get an error message " the trial subscription to this service has expired. You can renew your subscription at www.tomtom.com. Error code 2029.
I immmediately emailed tomtom and their replies have been nothing short of silly.
Quote: | Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
Some customers report that they get “error 2029 - traffic expired” displayed on the TomTom device. Check first if the customer has a valid subscription for traffic. If the traffic subscription has expired, you do indeed get this message. Customer needs to buy a new traffic subscription.
Some customers’ report that they get “error 2030 - safety cameras’ expired” displayed on the TomTom device.
Check again if the customer has a valid subscription for safety cameras. If the safety cameras’ subscription is expired, you do indeed get this message. Customer needs to buy a new safety cameras' subscription
If the customer has a valid subscription and still claims that they receive error 2029 or error 2030 we need to ask the customer to follow the steps below:
- Do a reset to factory settings
- Perform a softreset with the paperclip
- Rebond the phone tho the device.
- Make sure the username and password are filled in in Edit TomTom account and reconnect
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team |
After performing the steps they suggested I re-emailed them and got the following reply.
Nothing there tells me how to reset my account.
As a final step I have emailed them a copy of the Currys invoice and asked for an explanation of how a two day old device can have a months trial that had expired when I bought it.
Kind Regards
