Hi there.

I have a GO 910 and a ONE GB.

I'm not asking anything illeagal here, just curious.

Can I use the GO 910 maps on my TomTom ONE SD Card? Or are they locked to their own Device Code?

I suppose, as I have paid for both units, could I find a way of making them work on both devices?

Would greatly appreciate a reply,

If it were possible to do that, then there would be a rash of sellers on e-bay flogging pirated 910 maps. Tom Toms anti-piracy software restricts use of a hard drive map to the original device. Original cards can be used in other card drives, but I understand that copies of these cards are again restricted to the original device. It makes no difference whether or not you own both devices.

In the legal bit of the EULA, it specifies that you may only use the software on one device at a time, and that you only become the "owner" of the hardware, and do not aquire ownership of the software. So by agreeing to the EULA, (by using any of the software, opening a package, or clicking on I AGREE for a download), you are legally binding yourself to accept these terms and conditions.

Many thanks for clearing that up, just wondering if it we're possible, as it would be useful having say, the USA maps from my go 910 on a SD Card to use in my TomTom ONE when my wife has the go 910 ect.

How has this guy managed to do it then:

I don't know quite how they managed it. With maps on an original card, you can make a copy of your card as a back-up. This would work in your own device, but I understand that it is blocked against use in any other device. Possibly, the original card could then be transferred to another machine, and should work fine, because it is pre-authorised for any device. Once transferred, I don't think you can make a second back-up for the new machine, so you can't keep on copying and transferring the original. Different with maps on hard drives. AFIK, once activated on a particular machine, they cannot be operated on any other device. They can be copied to other media for back-up purposes, but remain locked to the original device, and their only use would be to reload the original device in the event of a software malfunction.

Hi

Yes its perfectly possible if you own both devices (Although Licence restrictions mean you should only use the map on a single device at a time, so if using the One you should not use the 910)

(You will need the activation card that came with your 910)

Connect 910 to PC, locate the 910 in devices,
Copy the USA Map folder to your PC

Now set up a large enough SD Card to hold the maps (I Use 2Gb)

Set the SD Card to work with your TTone (Install OS etc)

Copy the US Map folder to the SD Card

Now when you select the US Maps on your One it will ask you to activate, you can do this using the code supplied on your 910 activation code card at ttcode.com

Note : You can activate it once, then a second time after 7 days after that you need to wait 6 months, so be sure you are sticking with the device before doing it!

Of course you should only be using one device at a time with the map as the licence from TomTom is for a single device

Hope that helps
