Hi
I've just installed TT5 on my Mio P350. I preferred to install by loading the appropriate folders onto my SD card rather than using sync via PC. Everything seems to work apart from voice, I get a message which says "you did not select a useable voice!" when I try turn sound.
When I try to change voice I get a choice of Richard, Jane, Tim, Lori or Bonnie - but I get the same message whenever I try selecting any one of them..javascript:emoticon('')
Sad
I have downloaded all the free zipped voice files available on the TomTom website but I don't know where they need to go on my SD card. I seek your wisdom and guidance javascript:emoticon('')

Create a folder in the root of the SD card (thats the top level) call it voices you put the voice files in this folder, you will also need to create a folder called TomTom in the root of the SD card don't put anything in here but it needs to be present - now your voices should select |

mikealder - I did exactly what you said (ie: created new voices folder in root directory on SD Card and put unzipped downloaded voices folders into it; also created empty TomTom directory) but I still get the "you did not select a useable voice!" but this time it flashes twice before going away
In case this may help explain why I get this problem, I have the following folders in root directory on my SD Card:
Great_Britain_Plus-Map (out of CD2)
Great_Britain-Map (out of CD2)
Licences (out of CD1 I think)
manual (out of CD1)
nvapp (out of CD1 I think)
pocketpc (out of CD1 I think)
rsc (out of CD1 I think)
TomTom (empty as advised)
voice (out of CD1)
voices (with voice folders such as "Bonnie", "Jane", "Ken" etc...)
zip (out of CD2) |

On my P350 I have the following folders on the SD Card.
Great_Britain-Map
France_Plus-Map
New Folder containing the following .CAB files
(engf, engm, GPS, PIMAddIN, TTN, WZD)
TomTom (empty but needed for Full Postcode to Work)
ZIP (containing postcode data)
and
ignore_my_docs. (A hidden file)
I have set all .CAB files to Read Only so in the event of a flat battery I can re-install TT.
I did try the Voices folder but there appeared to be a slight lag in use. Tapping on the engf.cab (Jane's voice) puts her on the PDA. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

mikealder - well spotted, I think voices on my TT5 set up now works, thanks for your help.
I am wondering if I need all those other folders not specified by the earlier posting by Lost_Property such as:
- Great_Britain_Plus-Map (don't see difference between this and Great_Britain-Map other than extra options by subscription which I wouldn't use)
- Licences
- manual (this for sure can go)
- nvapp (what does this do?)
- pocketpc (this has tomtom and ttn CAB and INI files, should these be made read only?)
- rsc (contains loads of bitmaps and text files, 1 WAV and one INI file)
- voice (contains loads of CABs, WAVS and INIs) |

It has nothing to do with the Plus Services that TomTom provide.;) _________________ Richard

buddybuddy63. You only need the ones I mentioned above.
Make sure the .cab files are read only, otherwise if you re-install TT by using them they will disappear after one use
You only need one PLUS map. I chose the French plus map so that when I travel to France I choose the France plus map, set my destination and am guided over the major roads of Europe through GB and on arrival in France I have Street level without having to change maps.
By the way, the New Folder I mentioned is one I added to put the .cab files in. In the event of a flat battery you can connect to a mains adapter or car charger and using File Explorer browse to the folder on the SD Card, tap on each .cab file, one at a time, to install TT. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
