|
|
Along with the rest of the world's 510 users, my son became irritated at the fact that when he tried to update to 6.51 using the supplied SD Card, TTHome told him that there was insufficient space.
Having found the same problem myself (and solved it by using a bigger card) he bought a 1GB card of the same type that I had used, copied everything to the new card... and then found that it required re-activating. Odd that. When I did the same thing, I didn't have to re-activate mine.
Off to the TTCode site he went ... got his code, tried to activate the map and was told that the code was invalid!
After several attempts (with no success), we tried his new (copied) card in MY Go510 - worked perfectly with no need to activate!
Put the card into HIS 510 - couldn't use it, but original card still fine... a bit SMALL of course, but still fine, just not updateable!!
At this point, son casually mentions that he's noticed his 510 keeps losing the correct time.... Leads me to think this a memory problem with his 510, but how come that the original card works and the copy doesn't (in HIS 510) ?
Any bright ideas?

It's all to do with too many .mac files.
There's a downloadable fix from TT themselves but can't find the link. |

i think u have to copy over the oiginal files to the new card.. then let home do the update.. somehow/lsometimes a card/map gets linked to a particular machine..
activation codes are a bit weird.. quite what u have to change on a card before it demands activation isnt well known..
an exact copy of a card will never demand acvtivation thow.. there isnt any unique card identifier as such..

Thanks guys - gonna try the 'fix' as soon as laddo returns from his current job in Dublin (lucky git). I've also spoken to supplier who will be willing to swap unit if problem persists. I'll let you know the outcome in a few days.
