Hi. Today I asked a Currys sales assistant is there any difference between the tt1 v1 and the new one, he said the new one had better mapping and that inspite of downloading the latest update for the v1 the v2 had the better, improved visuals. Is this true? Also is the screen mount any good for the v1 as the v1 looks alot bigger? Any other information regarding the difference between the two models is greatly appreciated.

HERE is a mini-review.

I have no personal experience of the ONE, but I believe the mounts are different.

If you pop along to the TomTom webpage you can see the differences between the two models, including the £80 price difference.

I wasnt too sure myself which one to get, but after a bit of reading on here I decided to go for the V1. It had been mentioned that it was a bit more robust than the V2 and it has a faster processor too. Had it a few days now and use it constantly thru the day, works great Smile

First thing I did was backup the unit with TTHome, and then updated the unit to the latest software. Got mine from Pixmania for £191.

Some missleading info on this thread

the v1 is the old tt1
the v2 is the new edition tt1 either country specific or europe wide or US editions.

I have a TT1 orginal and a TT1 new edition both with GB maps on it.

Prefer the new one - smaller, mount system excellent, maps more upto date (but not upto date enough) - have a new bypass local to me that was not on the original tt1 maps.

If they cost the same why buy an old version?

Had no problems with the original tt1 in 12 months of use and none with the new TT1 with a months worth of use. Old TT1 is still running v.5x software.

Speed of the processor makes no difference in day to day use at all. (Although I've not run them side by side in a car).

traffic via gprs and an unsupported benq phone on orange works superbly as well on the new tt1.

I've updated my TT1v1 thru TTHome to the following:

App: v6.150
Gps: v1.21
Boot: 4.29
Gb Map: v605.0

How out of date is the above compared to the v2?

Anyone know why TomToms web is wanting £80 more for the old v1 over the new v2?

I would of thought that a faster cpu would give smoother animation on screen when lots of things are going off, sure I read a post saying as much on these boards. Wonder how the calculation and recalculation of routes compare Question

Hi All

New member here & first GPS in form of Tomtom One v2. I had thought of getting the original TT1 because of comments about build quality. However comments about inaccuracies in Teleatlas mapping prompted me to check out whether there had been any updates recently. TT confirmed that the TT1 v2 ships with updated mapping, so I purchased & can confirm the mapping is version 6.5.

Don't know whether this helps anyone!
