I've got a Mio C510E which keeps losing sound when switched on (you need to switch it off and on 20+ times to get it back).

It's been to Mio's service centre in Salford and back, and no better, then today I've just found the "problem".

If I remove the SD card with my additional maps, my sound works just fine. I've tried formatting the SD card (1GB Sandisk), no different, and substituting for another card (128MB blank Sandisk) and still dead.

Anyone have a similar problem, especially with a Sandisk? (or success with Sandisk)?

Try the sandisk ultra II card, Medion swear by it. Failing that, try a Viking interworks. I've got two for sale on Ebay, and they worked fine on my Medion PNA! Smile

However, before you buy another card, have you tried reformatting the ones you have? Also, are they working in FAT16/32 file format? Check with Mio on their service centre on their website at

You'll have to register first though.

Thanks, I'm going to see if I can borrow a different type of card from a friend, if they do the same, I'll send the unit back for replacement. I tried formatting (to FAT), but made no difference. It was obviously reading the cards okay, as all the maps were available.

All very strange though!
