What happened to my sound and vired alerts on Garmin C310 SP

I am new to all this and confused, irritated etc. On July 1st bought C310 Garmin Streetpilot. I added pocket worlds speed POIs and was delighted with the arrival of icons on map and red alerts with sound chime approaching safety cameras.

I then received an update advice from PW. I downloaded the new file and loaded to the sat nav with POI loader. Now I have a dumb sat nav - no alerts visual or audio. Was it the updated POI loader that Garmin provided or the updated POI file

Contacted Garmin who have yet to come back to me.

Can any body help. I looked for method of deleting the POIs but assume that I can only do this by overwriting. I can see only local POIs listed under the sat navs menu.

Once I have resloved this (hopefully) will adding other POIs (not cameras) affect the speed camera function?
