Anyone using these yet? If I use GPRS traffic, I get the reports for ALL the country, regardless of the route or length of required journey. Does the TomTom receiver do the same? Ive seen suggestions in other postings that refer only to local info.
Also is this traffic info retained on the 910 when disconnectd from the receiver?
On most of my short journeys I cannot avoid hold ups, I have a choice of travel or no travel. It's the longer journeys where a change of route at the start or part way through can save the time. Plus it would help on ETA's. Thanks. _________________ Fraserp

Yep, i've got one.
I can confirm that you only receive regional data which is not retained when you turn the go 910 off unfortunatly, although receiving the data happens in seconds.
By regional, i'm talking about from Lincolnshire-ish/Cambridgeshire to Norfolk area. Around the 150 mile radius. |

Why would it be necessary to have traffic info for the whole country ?
If the TMC traffic info does cover something like a 150 mile radius that's more than enough distance and time to re-route around any holdups. A detour of 30-50 miles will more than likely take longer than slowly driving through the jam itself. |

Ok. consider this sort of journey.
Manchester - London - Dover. a mere 280 miles or so.
In this 'real world' example I need to know the best route arround the M25 way before I get near it. I may even wish to postpone the journey all together. In this case I wouldnt see an M25 shutdown or queues on the M20. Both of which I have had regular first hand experience of.
The point here is, if Traffic via GPRS can give you the lot why not the TMC version? Sounds like another TT bodge!
Also consider it use abroad, distance over there are even greater. Hey ho, at least i've saved £60 thanks! [/quote] _________________ Fraserp

Let's be fair here. TT can't control what is transmitted via local FM channels. If a local channel chooses to only provide local info, then that is what you get.
That is the big difference with their GPRS solution, where TT determines what range to send based on your position _________________ GO1005
