27 September 2006. The international WebAward Competition, the premier website award program organised by the Web Marketing Association, announced today that the TomTom website (www.tomtom.com) has been awarded with the title ‘Outstanding Website’ for its high quality design, usability, interaction and performance

The key phrase is "organised by the Web Marketing Association", which means that it has nothing to do with how good a website is. |

It’s all marketing hype!
If you have a look at the Web Marketing Association website, click on "winners", and then "search winners database", change the "Award Level" to "Outstanding Web Site".
You will see that TomTom shares its title with approximately 267 other winners!
