|

Hi PGPSW Team,
Yesterday I provided an update to a fixed Gatso on the A129 from Billericay (at 51.615477, 0.428027) previously reported as removed from the August & September database (Gatso:600@30), which most definitely is there, along with its smile for the camera Truvelo cousin for good measure!
Does anybody know why this camera is now missing from the database and shown as a greyed out icon on the submission map? I can't believe it had been physically removed, especially both cameras from the same location.
How long will removed camera icons stay shown on the map? Do the map icons only get updated, added, deleted etc, coincidental with each database release or are they updated as and when they are verified?
This is now going to sound contradictory after my earlier comment on removed cameras, but in June I reported Gatso:1297@30 as removed from its location in Ashingdon Road Rochford. All that remained was a cone over the point where the camera used to stand and the road markings.
On 29th August I saw a team fitting a new camera at this location and duly reported it as new when I got home (I couldn't remember it's old number when I submitted it so said it was new). I guess I couldn't have been the first to report it though, which surprises me a little, having reported it so soon after it was installed as it sits in a relatively quiet location and only recently moved from the TBA file after I reported it and several others as being on 30MPH roads.
Can somebody please check that my amendments via the submission page are actually being received.
Sorry for such a long post. . Cheers Steve. |

Well I dont know about contradictory, but you answered your own question. You and others reported the camera as being removed it was verified and thus removed from the database. Back on the 24/3/06 you reported 600 as being removed, so did 4 others. The same has happened with the camera in Ashingdon road.
Cameras are not added in real time to our system they need to be reviewed. I have now re-instated this camera.
Once a camera has been removed it is marked as such in the database forever. This stops everyone reporting a removed camera as they can see that it is no longer there. It also acts as a sign that anyone submitting a new camera need to specify that it is a replacement. If not we may assume that it is an old report. We often get reports of removals and cameras at the same time. Some people dont send in cameras for a couple of months, some send in the same file they sent in previously with new cameras added at the end. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Hmmm, after reading that.. I don't envy your job of sifting through the useful stuff vs the not so useful |

Similar thread - different area!!
Recently supplied an OV file containing two new Temp Gatso Cameras that now greet visitors to Cornwall on the A30 for the duration of some roadworks over the Dunheved Bridge (country boundary)
File dutifully accepted and thanked profusely for my contribution
Latest download of database = no cameras at locations supplied (thank heavens I checked before deleting my own 'Cameras' POI file!)
Anybody any idea why these cameras may not have been included - they were still there yesterday and working wonderfully
Doubt I am alone in submissions of this nature
Getting a little disheartened - this is not the first time my efforts have appeared in vain - perhaps I should go back to living off the efforts of others
Gents - some of us try to help but are getting disillusioned - if we can be made aware of the prefectly valid reason I will shut up and return to my tent |
