If I go for the regional version I get Teleatlas for the UK.
If I go for the Europe version I get Navtec for the uk, right?
One reason for going for the Europe version is to get Europe maps cost effectively for rare occasions I expect to use the unit there. But I don't want to compromise UK usage.
So... for the UK are there any practical benefits to one over the other, or are there just 'minor differences'?

Their's not much between them some area's Navteq have better coverage and some area's Tele Atlas. I have noticed something though their's some new roads near me which are on the Tele Atlas maps on my TT 510 and their labelled as "Unknown Roads" I had a Garmin i3 with Navteq maps and the new roads were labelled correctly. For this reason I would choose the Navteq maps if I had a choice. |

Any difference in the way TomTom uses them? E.g. can I expect very simlar/identical routes in the UK using either the TomTom One regional or Euro variants? |

Not sure I suppose if theirs a road on the Navteq map that isn't on the Tele Atlas map or vice/versa it would calculate the route differently. I'm sure with either map you would get to your destination
Which calculate's the route the quickest I wonder? |

I think NavTeq maps are generally regarded as superior to TeleAtlas. Certainly the maps in CoPilot 5 and 6 seemed better than TomTom 3 and 5, even though the software was not as good. I have recently bought TomTom One v2 Europe, and a number of mistakes in TT5 around Swansea are not present in the new version - and so far I haven't found any new ones in TT1!

One bit of a local road is not on the Navteq map, driving down it caused all sorts of confusion with strange re-routes etc. and in the end a continual "turn around" prompt.
As for the question which map would calculate the quickest route, this would depend on which map contained the most accurate refelection of the true road layout, and least number of errors (which both map sources contain - nothing is 100%), for the route you are trying to plan - Mike |
