Help for a silver nuvi 300 user please

Can someone help please? I've subsrcibed to Pocket GPS and downloaded the safety camera database for my Nuvi 300! Twice! Single file format and the POI Loader (24 files). Using Garmins POI loader I'm told that I have successfully installed 10,000+ POI's. So far I've been through 2 speed camera locations but have no audible or visual notification on my Nuvi. Obviously I've done something wrong or haven't downloaded something. I've followed the pdf help file for Garmin but am now at a loss and feeling foolish.
Can someone point me in the right direction ('scuse the pun) please?

Erm, where will I find that in the Nuvi 300? So far I've not found the option to enable POI warnings in the settings.

I don't have a 300 in front of me, but on the 310 if you press the spanner symbol (top Rh or the display) scroll down and select Proximity Alerts, then Alerts Change.......
Make sure that Custom Pois is ticked and you should then get the alerts
I don't think the menu structure would be that different between the 300 or 310 units - Mike

Thanks for the swift reply. I've gone into the settings and gone to Proximity Points. There I select Alerts and Custom Pois and Garmin Safety Cameras have both been selected (ticked). Just wondering if the cameras I encountered were dummys (although my wife was booked on one of them some time ago) or not activated for some reason?
