For all you technically minded people out there,

WHEN...yes WHEN the TMC Receiver for the GO X10 range is available, could someone devise something like an adapter that could accomodate BOTH the TMC receiver and the Ipod cable so that both could run at the same time?!

That would be great, perhaps I should suggest it to TomTom's R & D Team?! Wink

This will not be possible since both devices work against the same serial port. You can only have either or.

I know that, I was just wondering if you could invent an adapter which plugged into the mount and then had 2 connectors on that which you could plug both of the tmc and ipod cable into.

If you could do that it'd probably require changes to the TT software... even if it could work - depends on the serial protocols for both & whether you could interleave them successfully.

Do you mean, so that you have both plugged in, but only one in use at a time, to save repeated pluging & unpluging?

If all you want is one at a time a simple two way switch would probably do it. Unless TT handles the switchover properly though you'd need to power off and on the TT after each switch.

No I mean, could you listen to your iPod through the GO 910 AND receive traffic info over the tmc rds receiver?

It would be good to have both running together at the same time.
Maybe someone technically minded could devise something?! Wink

Why not put the 910's audio through the car stereo (either by Bluetooth or hardwired).
Put the mp3's on the 910's hard drive so it can control the music with the nav/ warning voice prompts, (music in stereo through the car unit).
Plug the TMC unit into the 910's mount as it will need to comunicate with the main unit
-
Comprompise, well maybe but with around 10GB of music on the 910 it lasts for quite some time.

I don't see it to be viable to connect both devices at once, even a switch and Y type lead would cause problems, look at the connector for the IPOD/ TMC on the car mount and try and source one! certainly not a home made option at the moment.

Its one or the other the 910 can only comunicate through its single port with a single device (TMC OR IPOD).

If you want to use IPOD and TMC then you would be better off with the GPRS connection for the Traffic, and use the port for the IPOD - Mike

Ha funny. I tell you it is not possible, you tell me that you know that, and still want it... How much clearer can I say it?

You would need a serial port multiplexer , which is an extremely complicated piece of software, and TomTom have no intention to incorporate that into the GO kernel.

Not possible. Period.
