Question, has anyone actually seen the TomTom TMC receiver working with any of the x10 range. As yet I've not seen any site that has had the opportunity to review this device, which is very strange. The GO x10 range was floating around long before it became available.

I suspect the delay could possibly be for one of three reasons:-

1.They are having problems with TMC licensing, which seems to be a common problem.

2.There maybe a technical problem which would surprise me as the TMC is just a basic FM receiver, single strength maybe an issue?

3.Marketing department has held it back, and will release it as a package with the GO 710. Both the 710 & TMC just do not exist, no reason why the 710 has not been released just a larger SD card. I suspect they have held the 710 back to force people to buy the 910, then when the 710 becomes available it will be bundled with the TMC to encourage sales.

What makes you think the 710 does not exist - you mean the boxes in the shops are empty?

Just lots of reports that people cannot get hold of, or have been waiting for the 710. I think I saw an initial batch of 710 when they first became available, but every retailer seems to have just 510 & 910's.

We are beta testing the TMC receiver. It's a true beta if you know what I mean.

I have a Holux 270 CF receiver, do you know if there will be one of these antennas to fit the Holux?

The TMC receiver is for Traffic Message Channel, it will not work with anything other than the TomTom Go-x10 product range when it launches, you cannot connect this type of device to a GPS unit CF or otherwise - Mike

I guess if they haven't got them available for the X10 range yet, then we older models stand no chance!! Crying or Very sad

In truth i don't know. We keep getting release dates which come and go, so although we now have definte dates, let's wait and see.
As for your question on earlier models i think i read in another post, a reply from Mikealder ( i think) and basically it was along the lines of these units being specific for the X10's and will not work on anything else.
Whether there are any plans in the future for them only time will tell.
I would imagine that these little babies are gonna fly off the shelves when they finally get here.
Perhaps these are the most awaited single accessory there has been, i certainly can't wait to get one, so lets hope they have got it right.

The earlier Go units do not have the connection for such a device which is why I said x10 devices only, its the same connection port that the IPOD control cable fits to (when that is available, that is what the book says anyway) so its IPOD or TMC but not both, this connection is only on the x10 mounts - Mike
