How do i download the latest Tom Tom v6.15. It says it has to be donloaded from the Home application, but when I go to download this I find it does not cover Windows 98 SE which I am on. Anyone any idea how i get the latest downloads from Tom Tom with the system that I have got. I need to update my Tom Tom Go

only joking but but what u find with home u will find more and more as long as u hang on to 98..

i think it requires some direct file swopping.. but i dont see how u can get the files without home.. home just does it for u.. but the likes of tomtom just assume that everyone has got home and no one has 98..

its probably an offense to send em to u or make them available which dont help.. else that would be an easy answer..

Not sure but I remember some are (might have been another forum people are sharing the CAB files) applying the updates without using HOME.

Got to say though you should seriously consider updateing your PC. Win 98 is no longer supported by MS so no updates to fix probelms/security issues. Drivers for newer devices will also be a problem.

A change to 2000 or XP (preferable) would be a major step forward (certainly more stable than 98 which in fairness wasn't too bad) though be aware that if your hardware is a few years old your probably going to find you'll not be able to use XP. For example whilst XP will run reasonably with 128mb of RAM its far better with 256mb and 512mb is probably best (more if your into number crunching or image manipulation).

Also some older hardware doesn't work with XP. There is a hardware checker on the MS site.

its not so much that MS dosnt suport it more that new software dosnt bother to suport it and new hardware supliers dont bother writing the drivers for it..

ultimately the inconvenience forces an operating sytem upgrade like it or not.. u balance one against the other.. in the end the scales tip too far one way.. he he

dont get vista thow.. xp will do for three years or so.. he he

Thanks for the replies. I know that it will become more amd more difficult running win98 but as my computer is 5-6 years old it might mean a complete new system which I'm not sure is the best thing with vista just round the corner. Anyway time to start saving!!
