Hi,
I downloaded the free speed cameras last year ok but now I'm having problems.

Using mac OS X.4.2/safari/tomtom one

Every time I try to download files I get 'decompression failed' showing in download manager underneath the file name and if I try to open the file I get the message "unable to archive "pgpsw-speed-cams.zip" into desktop. (error 1 - operation not permitted.)"

Tried shortening the zip file name, using internet explorer, opening with stuffit expander (which resulted in: "unknown zip header format").

Finally, I installed firefox to see if that would help but I get "unknown zip header format encountered" when trying to open the file including when I shorten the file name.

Any help appreciated.

Yes, I have subscribed. I presum I would not have to do anything further to activate my subscription?

Any chance of further help?

I've read all the relevant threads but I still can't download the camera database.

I'll ask team members Mike and Darren. They have both recently bought Macs to better understand the issues that surround them.

In the meantime, any other Mac users out there with similar problems or ideas?

I am not an expert having only just bought my first iMac. I am running MacOS 10.3.9 and using the latest version of Stuffit. I download the zip file and indeed do get that error message. However I open Stuffit and sucessfully unpack the files using that.

I don't even get as far as downloading the whole file, just tried again (twice) and it loads 152kb before it stops and I get the 'decompression failed' message.

Which file are you trying to download?

I will check and see if it works on my system.

I've tried all 3 of the UK files a few times but it's the speed zoned file I've been persisting with.

I an a little stuck as to what your problem is. While we are trying to work it out I have sent the files to your email account. What version of Stuffit are you using?

I tried again last night and successfully installed all the packages on my TomTom One New Edition downloading from the internet. My iMac is pretty standard with just Stuffit upgraded to the latest version with a few other utilities.

Wow, you've got it there! I was using an older version of Stuffit, just updated (it's supposed to look for updates itself) to 10.0.2 and it works.
I still get the decompression failed message but when I double click on the file icon I get the full folder of the database.
Also, the original default setting was for the BOMArchiveHelper to open the files (which it obviously wasn't) and anyone using a mac will have to change.

Thanks for all your help. I had a horrible feeling it would be something quite simple Embarassed
