Hi All
Im completely new to all this (although after reading through lots of info on here am s-l-o-w-l-y beginning to understand a little more).
Ive decided to buy the "Spotlight Haicom GPS + TomTom Navigator 2 GB + iPAQ H2210 + Arkon Mount + 128mb CF card" Bundle from Global Positioning Systems. - Im sick to death of getting lost on drives out and about, hopefully this will be a thing of the past when i receive my purchase ! (the TOMTOM demo's look great!!)
I've a few q's, of which the answers would be greatfully received
1) Has anyone got experience of the new 204e GPS receiver from Haicom ?? Is it any good ?? Known Problems etc etc - I've searched around looking for reviews but cant find any...
2) Is the system easy to set up ? (if i have set-up problems where can I go to get help?) - Briefly how do I do it ??????
3) All-in-all, is it a good Sat Nav bundle to have? (im only going to be using the system in car).
Advance thanx for all your help.
Marc

1) Personally, I wouldn't go with the 204e, as it has the evermore chipset. Most GPS Receivers tend to use SiRF. Performance wise, Evermore generally doesn't pull in as good as a signal compared with SiRF based GP S Receivers.
Definately stick with the 2210, it's a good PDA, TTN2 equally as good if you only want GB maps, otherwise you may find it cheaper to go with something like CoPilot Live.
2) Here of course!
3) Everything is good except for the 204e. |

Hi Dave
Many thanks for your advice/comments.
After reading ALL the problems with 'Evermore' chipset on other threads, I think i've probably opted for a poor and unreliable GPS receiver
My only hope is that the new '204e' addresses and fixes some of these problems.
I'll let you know how I get on with it.
ANYONE out there with a 'Evermore' chipset that doesnt have any probs ?

If you brought it over the Internet or mail order in the UK then don't forget that under UK consumer law you can send it back for a refund within 14 days if you are not happy with it.
Good luck and welcome to the world of GPS - you will wonder how you ever managed without it. : |

Sorry to be a Pain again......
would the "TomTom GPS receiver" be a better alternative to have instead of the Haicom 204e?

Definately, the 9531/9532 has a SiRF II chipset. |
