Welcome to the forum, to enable GPRS on your device phone the service provider (Vodaphone in your case) and request that GPRS is emabled, they will then send a message to the phone with the correct settings thus enabling GPRS for you to use.
As a word of caution watch the cost as it can prove very expensive, quite often charges of £3 per MB is not unusual, this can rack up a substantial bill, or in your case wipe out your credit loaded to the phone in a very short duration - Mike

Thanks Mike for the reply wish it were as simple as making a phone call vodafone have a 191 number to ring have tried this without success think I may have to make a visit to the main vodafone shop in my area to get it sorted as at my local branch the girl told me she did'nt have a clue re PDAs/tom tom etc.
As a matter of curiosity how long would a Mb last.

1MB is not very much at all, I have managed to rack up bills over £100 in a single month (and I monitor what I am doing on the net via the phone), the normal web pages are not too bad, but any containing graphics etc can seriously increase the cost, at least on Pay As You Go you have a limit, in that once its consumed, it will stop! - you might want to get a second Sim though pre loaded with a token amount, as a "Just In Case" card, you don't want to get caught with no credit and then need the phone! - Mike

E-mail is fine, so long as you don't send/ accept large attachments, its the graphics that kick the charge through the roof - Mike
