Nuvi 300 Alerts for speedcams only while navigating silently

Hi All - I'm new to satnav and my first purchase was a Nuvi 300 (UK & Irl)with which I have been experimenting with for the last two months.

I am trying to find a way of navigating without voice prompts but still maintaining speed camera alerts. When I set Voice prompts to None and leave Attention Tones On the unit keeps beeping when ever it would normally give a voice prompt

I recall reading somewhere that you can modify either the British English or American English file to overcome those annoying beeps. Could someone please point me in the right direction
