Hi All,
I work on the web side of things for a large UK retailer and would like to offer our customers a POI file so that they can add the locations of our stores to their Sat Nav System.
We would like to offer this as a download from our website however I am uncertain as to what file formats I should be offering as to be compatible with the main manufacturers/platforms i.e. TomTom, Garmin and Navman. This is because we do not want to exclude any of our customers from being able to use this file and want to make it is easy as possible for them to install.
With all this in mind my question is...
What POI file format(s) should we be offering as a download on our website in order to be compatible with the majority of Sat Nav users?
After doing some research I have discovered that (correct me if I am wrong) the OV2 format is required for TomTom products and CSV for Garmin and Navman. Is CSV the only other format I need to worry about for all Garmin and Navman users or it it more model specific than this?
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Great idea, a lot of retailers could learn from your example!
Download the latest version of PoiEdit, it’s free but I would recommend a donation to the author.
For UK locations, I use Streetmap to convert Post Codes into longitude and latitude.
Once you have created your POI for one SatNav, you can use PoiEdit to convert it to other formats for other types of SatNavs.
Don’t forget that you need an icon file too. For TomTom it has to be 22 x 22 pixels, a maximum of 256 colours, and in .BMP format

I took your advice and downloaded POIEdit. I see that I can save as the Tom Tom OV2, Garmin CSV and NavMan CSV formats.
If I put these three formats on our website as downloads would this be enough for all our customers who have Tom Tom, Garmin and NavMan Sat Nav systems?
