Can't load new maps on TT one

Have just purchased some city maps for my holidays from tomtom. Followed their download and install instructions to the letter. File self extracts OK, tomtom set up starts, I agree the licence then I get the following message

Your computer does not support the devices for which there are applications in this package. Please install the supporting software first and run Setup again. Setup will now end.

Can anyone tell me what supporting software it is that I need?

Have also downloaded and installed "Home" and tried to install the maps from there but again no joy as it does not recognise them.

what do the extracted files look like? is there a folder with the map files?

Elder, thanks for taking an interest in this. I'm glad to say that the problem has just been resolved - mind you it has taken me 5 hours - and at the end of it and I'm no wiser as to why it worked this time and not in the previous attempts.
