I have just purchased a 520 and at the moment am pleased but not been on a long trip yet. A couple of questions /comments
1. How accurate are the speed readings?
2. How long on average should it take a GPS fix on starting
Thanks |

i have had my navman icn520 for around 3 weeks now, to get a sat reading can take around 5/10mins from cold.....i bought the external antenna & it now picks up a sat signal within 40 seconds cold.
when u set it to do your route just check the route before you set off.

I have noticed that the speed readings differ from those on my car spedometer. Navman reading is usually lower by about 5 or 10%. Not sure why this is - you would expect that that GPS tracking would be more accurate than that.
The GPS fix should only take a few seconds when you switch on your 520 in a location close to where it was switched off. Mine was always 5 - 10 seconds but much longer if you switch it on in a new location - probably 30 - 60 seconds and occasionally even longer. |

I think you'll find it's the car speedometer that's inaccurate, probably intentionally. _________________ Anita

It is indeed the car's speedo. They are allowed a tolerance of +10% and -0%. To avoid falling foul of the -0%, manufacturers err on the side of caution. _________________ Tim |
