Hi all,

Since downloading the camera database and other poi info, the redraw speed in my I3 seems to have become slow, especially in 3d mode.

Is this normal or do i have a duff unit??

Thanks.

Hi,

I downloaded the software written by ASH that enables adjustment of the time delays for cameras and also shows the POI icons untill the camera site is passed.
The software works well, however I feel that the performance of the unit may be suffering slightly with over 18,000 POIs loaded.

It is particularly slow in 3D mode, however in 2D mode earlier today the maps disappeared and I was tracking in white space for about 2-3 minutes.

I have deleted all the POIs and will see if there is an improvement.

Eeeekkk. 3.10 is "know" for being slow and laggy. Quite a few people here use 2.70 as it seems the most stable and doesn't suffer from lag.

Yup. If you read the thread i gave you above you'll see many have upgraded and down graded many times.

get old versions at http://www.gpsinformation.org/perry/streetpilot/sp_ix/

You want StreetPiloti3_270.exe

Download, plug in your i3 and run the StreetPiloti3_270.exe. It'll do the rest.

Hi,

Just back from holidays in West of Ireland.

I3 worked fine, however I had deleted all the POI's before I left.

I will try the firmware 2.7 and let you know if I see any improvements.

Thanks.

Hi,

I installed FW 2.7, however the unit will not now find any satellites!!

May need to put 3.10 back on.

How long did you leave it? After a Firmware up / downgrade it may take 5 minutes or longer with a good clear view of the sky to get the initial lock.

Sorry,

I was a bit impatient!!!

Found satellites okay and on each subsequent restart it is finding them within 10-20 secs.

Went for a drive, I think FW 2.7 seems smoother especially on map mode.

Thanks.

Hi,

After loading to 2.7 things definately got better, however I noticed this morning that the redraw rate seems better again.

The weather is not as hot today and it is cloudy.... Could the temperature of the unit effect the redraw rate?? i.e if the temp outside is +25C with full sun, the temp on the inside of the windscreen must be really high.

Just a thought, however what do they do in places like California/Florida etc etc..

Mussey1.

P.s I also enabled EGGNOGG, but I will reserve judgment until I have driven a few more miles.

It's most likely the firmware and not the weather. When i had problems it was a few months ago. Weather was cooler and the 3.00 and 3.10 firmware both lagged - 2.7 resolved all problems.

Lots of others had the same problems a couple of months ago when the firmware first appeared. See http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=39468 for May 2006.
