I have just purchased the Nuvi and just subscribed to this website for the camera updates.
I dont know how to get the cameras on to the Garmin device. How do I get it to work, in laymans terms. I dont want to be confused more by technical computer terms.
I would just like to be shown a simple step by step guide, which isnt anywhere on the site; well anywhere that is easily accessed.
What programs I need, where to get them. What cameras to download AND where to get them and when to download them for future updates.
I think for paying £19 membership, a step by step guide should be given to access easily.
I have a Nuvi 360, but the process should be similar.
The first thing to do is download the camera file from this site. I personally use the one that has Nuvi in the title, which comes up after you have selected Garmin as your unit.
Once you have downloaded the file, you need to unzip it using Winzip or some such.
Once unzipped, you are now in a position to upload it to your SatNav. To do this you need a program called PoiLoader, which is freely available for download from Garmin's own website.
On running PoiLoader, all you need to do is point it at the folder that you have saved your unzipped camera file in. Obviously your SatNav needs to be plugged in to your computer to make the transfer.
That's it basically.
You may find that the default settings for the cameras give you warnings some way before you actually get to each camera, which can be annoying. There are a couple of utilitied available form this forum, from ASH10 or CBROM, which allow you to customise the distances from each type of camera before you get a warning.
Before using either of those utilities, I would strongly recommend that you read through the appropriate stickies in the Nuvi thread, which will give you a lot more information about what each program is able to do.
