Posted: Thu Jul 20, 2006 3:14 pm Post subject: Getting TT5 on XDA-Exec (WM5.0) to recognise my receiver |
|
|
I've got a Globalsat BT-308 (Kirrio branded?) and I have previously had it working thanks to the folks on this forum - back when I had my XDA 2i (HTC Alpine).
However, I just got an XDA Exec (HTC Universal) and it is running WM 5.0. I have reinstalled tomtom which seems to have gone alright, but now I don't know how to get my GPS receiver connected.
I have paired the device in connection manager. I have created an incoming port on COM8 and an outgoing one on COM0 - but I know basically nothing about COM ports.
What I did on my XDA 2i to make it work was to, in tomtom, choose Other Cable NMEA GPS, set baud rate to 38400 then choose GPS connected to Bluetooth Serial Port COM6. However, the WM5.0 interface seems different. The "GPS connected to Bluetooth Serial Port COM6" part doesn't seem to exist, and I know that my PDA isn't talking to my receiver as indicated by the light on the receiver...
What should I be doing?
Thanks. |

Remove both ports again.
Create an outgoing port on COM 8, no encryption
In TomTom, select "Other BT receiver" at 38400 and COM8:
Make sure the phone part is on, otherwise TomTom will complain about "Flight mode and stuff. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the reply.
I get as far as selecting the board rate (after selecting "Other Cable NMEA GPS") but then there is no mention of COM8. The ports shown are:
QCT Data Interface
Serial Cable on COM1
COM7
RIL on COM6
Infrared Port
Ir on COM3 |

Sorry, I seem to have totally ignored the BT part.
However, the same is true for when I select Other Bluetooth GPS (there is no exact text for Other BT Receiver) the only options are:
QCT Data Interface
Serial Cable on COM1
COM7
RIL on COM6
Infrared Port
Ir on COM3
Same as on the cable option. |

Upgraded to 5.21 and the option for COM0 was there. I chose that and it was detected.
Next time I go for a drive I'll see if it works, and until then I'll have my fingers crossed! Thanks again. |
