Can I copy Maps from i3 to i3?

Currently I have an i3 running v7 maps. My froend has just purchased an i3 with v9 maps. As mine keeps giving the annoying "Maps out of date" message everytime I turn it on, I'm wondering if I can copy his up-to-date maps to resolve this?

Has anyone donethi? I don't want to screw my i3 up thats all....

No.

When you buy new maps you get the maps for free but you can't installed without an unlock code for your unit which costs ~£45...

There although in theory you could copy the maps you can't install them without buying the unlock code for your i3.

For example I've just ordered the v9 map DVD for my i3. The DVD is free but is of no use to me until i decide to buy the unlock code for my i3.
