Any hidden menus around
Yep. First is reached by touching and holding over the Battery icon for a few seconds. The second by touching and holding over where the speedo bevel and Moving Average box meet on the Trip Meter page.
Please note, you can seriously mess up your GPS on these screens!
Can I manually set my location, eg for a test run of a route in a foreign country?
Yep. Just turn GPS off from the System menu. Press, Where to, Browse Map, from there you can use the Set Loc button on the bottom right
Can I Use Mapsource USA v6 maps?
Yep. You will need IMG2GPS and SendMap20. Please note, the size of the selected mapset will increase once all steps are completed, eg if you select a map set of around 140mb it will grow to around 200mb
1. Select the map tiles visually on MapSource and upload them to your GPS. This will create a fully indexed, but non-auto routable map set.
2. Also, save the map set selection as a .gdb file from MapSource.
3. Copy the GMAPSUPP.img file from the GPS to your PC.
4. Launch IMG2GPS and use the "load" option at the bottom of the screen to load the .gdb file. It will show the list of all the map tiles.
5. Check the two options "Folder/Card" and "Create File instead of Upload" and then click on "Create File". This will create auto routable, but non-indexed/non-searchable map set.
6. Launch Sendmap20 v32. Beta and use the "add map" option to load the GMAPSUPP.img file that you copied from the GPS. It will list all the map tiles and will also list the index file at the end.
7. Now highlight the first map tile in the list and hit the "remove" button. Keep doing this until you have removed ALL the maps except the "index" file.
8. Now use the "add map" option to load the GMAPSUPP.img file that was created by IMG2GPS. Now your list will include all the routable map tiles and the index file.
9. Click on the "create GMAPSUPP.img file" button to create the FINAL GMAPSUPP.img file and copy it to the GPS.
Find out how far you are to the destination
Press the arrival time to get the speedo page. One of the displays there is the distance to destination.
Announce the details of the upcoming turn
Press the "Turn In" and a popup message will announce the details of the upcoming turn
How to do a Master Reset
Please note, you will loose all saved data.
With the unit off, press and hold the bottom right hand corner of the screen, keep holding this and turn the unit on, hold it for 10 more seconds and the unit should ask if you really want to wipe all user data.
Other
The majority of this is not my work, just what I've found on the net from various forums. A lot of this will also work with the C3xx series
Will the TMC included with the C510D work in Ireland/Northern Ireland
Unfortunately, no. TrafficMaster "have no plans to provide the resources to obtain and disseminate traffic information for Northern Ireland."
