When my original TomTom powered mount failed 2 years ago, after only 6 months use, I replaced it with a G2100 from Seidio and it's still going strong. The only downside i see is it's expensive if you upgrade your PDA at a later date as you might have to buy a new mount as well. _________________ Graham.

hi graham:
thanks for ur reply.
yes it is looking expensive, however when u go in to details it is not so!
i also thought it is expensive at least initially.
i got a x51 now i need a mount, gps antenna, power cord etc.
in a different thread i was adviced to get a sirf3 chipset antenna. well i thought about it.
i looked at various products.
if i were to buy these separately according to what i calculated it comes to same or more!
and then closest rival was arkon mount which has sirf2 chip set.
my only worry besides the cost is postage from europe and if anything were to go wrong i had to post it back to europe (as far as i know there is no uk reseller for this mount) |

I've been using my G4850M for about a month with TomTom Nav 5 and I am VERY pleased with both. The only issue I have had is the Treo650 not seating correctly a few times which caused an intermint GPS signal. By reseating the 650, the problem was solved.
Buy it, you'll like it! |

According to Seidio's website TotalPDA are importers for UK.
I called them at the start of May and the guy I got on the line was a little obtuse, and stated that they will NEVER import such a product!
I emailed Seidio regarding this fact; but have not received a reply so far....
Currently trying to get someone from US to ship it for me.... "apparently" the $30 price hike at Seidio-Europe is tax..... |

may be total pda is uk reseller, but to my knowledge i could not find anyone selling in the UK, not even ebay UK!!
You can order from europe, they ship it from spain vai DHL. once they ship it DHL wil bring it to ur doorstep next day! ( ofcourse at a cost)
also u can track it via SMS- text and web! |

Interesting. You guys in the UK see yourselves as distinct from Europe. |

It's not so much that; the postage from Spain is US$32.18 on an already inflated price.
This shipping charge is MORE than it would take to ship the same product from Seidio's US site, AND it will take longer!
Add to this the line from the Seidio-Europe website:
"Seidio is not responsible for lost or damaged shipments"
and a "processing time of 24 to 72 hours"
If there WAS a UK supplier prepared to import this product then the postage would be something more reasonable - even an eBay seller wouldn't have the cheek to charge $32 and then take upto 10 days to get the product to you!
I say come on TotalPDA - pull your finger out and make a statement on this forum... are you importers of Seidio products or not?! |

kevin:
sorry about delay..
i was busy in my regular work past few days!!!
may be what u r saying about us shipping costs are lower! i did not check it!
as i see it postage is very expensive! and they donot encourage cheaper postage..
as u rightly noted they try to wash their hands off! from any responsibility!
but i think there is no one in uk as a reseller! |
