|
|
I've had a BT-338 (S/n AWW 060368) for a couple of months . It has been working fine and I'm really pleased with it. However, for the last couple of weeks, it won't turn on.
Here is what happens. I press the 'On' button and the green LED lights up, then goes out after a few seconds. If. however, I plug it into a charger (either car or mains) and then switch it on, it starts without a problem. I can then remove the charger and the unit works happily for many hours. If I switch it off, the same thing happens. This isn't a problem in the car, but if I'm in the scrub somewhere and I need to switch it on... Well you get the picture.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated
Regards

Hi JackHenry,
to the forum!
Is the battery fully charged?
If the battery is fully charged then try removing the battery from the BT-338, and leaving the battery out for 30 minutes. Replace the battery and then place the BT-338 in a location where it will get a satellite fix. Switch on the BT-338 and wait for it to get a satellite fix.

I'll give that a try. It has NEVER had a problem getting Sat fixes. It's just the switching on issue that's the problem. |

It's a question of timing too. How long do you press the button? If I remember right you need to press until the blue light went on and off once. _________________ Lutz

If I hold it down long enough, the green light comes on, but the blue light never comes on. If I keep holding the button down, it just turns back off again.
This is what happens whether I hold the button down or not. Once the green light initially comes on, the time until it goes out is about the same whether I keep holding the buttomn down or not.
