new to downloads

Hi i have just recently purchased the garmin nuvi 350i. I have just paid for and down loaded the speed camera data base. However when i down loaded it to my Sat Nav it overwrote on my original custom poi.s. I have since re-installed my original poi's on to a SD card so i now have speed cameras on the system and all other poi's i.e supermarkets and garages etc on the SD card. Can someone tell me is this the way its meant to be? As when i insert the SD card it states that i have new data on the card and do i want to install it in case its lost. I have to keep clicking no! Or i will lose all curent poi's.
Does the speed camera poi not overlay the original set up so it's automatically on the actual 350 unit?
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S Any ideas how to download a car icon instead of the sd triangle?
